Hi! How are you? I just finished a story about hair color trends. (Blonde for summer? Groundbreaking, I know. But watch Bella Hadid’s IG Story and tell me it doesn’t look fun! She is in Cannes, so grain of salt.)
Have you heard of Zeen? It’s a design app. I know some people like Freeform. I’ve dabbled with the Shuffles app by Pinterest. If you use Photoshop, you’re a pro in my eyes. But I like Zeen for a few reasons: no gridlines, it’s easy to use on desktop, and it has pre-set canvases for thumbnails, Instagram grid, and vertical Stories. There’s a watermark on exports, but it’s not bad (the Shuffles one is).

First of all, how cute is this babydoll dress from Dissh? Check out all the new arrivals. If you’re taller than me, this is sick.
This morning, I read an interview with Sofie Pavitt, and she shared a sneaky good beauty rec: this Fara Homidi Smudge & Contour lip pencil. Wear with “just Vaseline smudged over the top.”
This CK tank comes highly recommended. Copying this whole outfit.
The good highlights are by Julie Fortiz at Jenna Perry. Go see her if you want to be blonde. She studied under Jenna (one of the best colorists in NYC) and has a growing roster of cool clients.
On taste & style
I read this quote from Jessie Randall, the founder of Loeffler Randall, and immediately saved it:
“Each [woman] on my design team has a picture of her childhood self set up by her desk — I like remembering the little ‘us’ as we design. I think often taste and style are just about coming back to the parts of yourself that were always there.” -Jessie Randall in Á La Carte
It reminded me of my favorite Kendall Jenner interview. Now I’m inspired to print out a baby picture. (John Jannuzzi recommended this photo printer that turns any pic on your phone into a Polaroid — handy.) But until I get around to printing and framing, I’m keeping this vintage shot on my desktop, bringing me back to my precious little ham self.
Art that makes me feel something
I recently discovered Gary Bunt, and I don’t know why, but his paintings make me emotional. I think it’s the pairing of an old man and his dog.
How to get smart again
This is such a good list. I read it from my iPad while drinking an iced chai at Bel Ami.
This week, I’m working on eating without watching anything. Last night I listened to this podcast instead.
Should you ask about work-life balance in a job interview?
As a guest on the Diary of a CEO podcast, Emma Grede (CEO of Skims) said that if she’s interviewing someone and they mention “work-life balance,” it’s an immediate no from her. She believes figuring out your work-life balance is up to you and not your employer, but she’s facing some (warranted) pushback.
Goodbye, “cold metal speculum!”
You know how I feel about at-home health tests, but this one sounds promising. About time, yeah?
One final PSA: Go get the limited-edition peanut butter chocolate banana pudding from Magnolia before it’s too late.
Have a fabulous rest of your week!
Love,
Megan
