I flew up to Maine earlier this week to spend some time with my family (well, mostly my mom — my dad’s on a silent meditation retreat). Last night, my brother John took us out on the boat to see the Mt. Joy concert.
On the ride from Yarmouth to Portland, we passed by a sailing regatta. I’ve never seen one up close, but I was struck by how it looked so different from what I imagined. I assumed the sailboats raced across the water in a straight line from start to finish. But in reality, it’s more like an obstacle course where boats weave around buoys. From a distance, you have no idea who’s winning, and it doesn’t even matter. It’s just this beautiful movement of triangles slowly pulling in different directions. It made me wish I knew how to sail.
Here are some things I’ve saved that I think you should know about:
Summer diamonds:
I’m addicted to this jewelry collection by Aflalo and Leandra Medine Cohen. The imagery, the casual styling, the $3k toe ring!!
Repeatable outfit:
I screengrabbed this image of Laurel Pantin so fast because her outfit is so recreateable. I don’t have the exact pieces, but the structure is foolproof, the type of thing you can wear every Thursday for the rest of summer: long dress, striped long-sleeve around the waist, flip flops.
A living-room beauty interview:
This was a fun watch and reminded me a little bit of old ITG or Man Repeller YouTube videos. Of course, Jean Godfrey-June is a beauty legend, and I’ve always loved her casualness. I scribbled down her vitamin C recommendation: a True Botanicals powder that’s resistant to oxidation.
A sweet bikini:
It’s the pale blue color, the underwire, the eyelet detail. J. Crew bathing suits are elite. I always try to buy them off-season, so I get 50% off, but this one might be too good to pass on.
That’s all for today. I need a nap or a beer or both. Have a great weekend — and happy summer solstice!
Love,
Megan
