Silver nail polish guide
A few Fridays ago, I was sitting on a picnic bench at Montauket, drinking a watered-down Aperol Spritz out of a clear plastic cup when the girl sitting next to me reached over and grabbed my hand. “You have the best nails,” she said, which surprised me because mine were bare save for two coats of this sleeper-hit sheer pink polish. Most of the time, my nails are like that. But sometimes in the summer, they’re silver.
Earlier this week, I found this TikTok about silver nail polish, and it reminded me that silver is the best neutral nail polish for summer for a few reasons:
It goes with everything. I’m not a silver jewelry person (I do mixed metals), but I am a silver nail polish person because the right silver polish doesn’t actually read as silver. It’s more like a soft, colorless shimmer that catches the light the way a glossy highlight would.
You can use regular polish. In my experience, a gel manicure in silver looks like gunmetal fingernails. Not the vibe. Just grab any regular polish bottle with some sparkle.
It will last a few weeks. The low-key best part about sheer silver nail polish: You can brush it on and go about your life. Trust me, people will compliment your nails, even if they’re chipped. Sparkle is deceptive like that.

If you’re looking for recs, here are some good ones:
Zoya Eclipse. I’m 90% pretty sure this is the one I was wearing, above. Reads a little like a topper, so needs two coats.
& Other Stories Silver Chrome. A good opaque metallic.
Sally Hansen Color Therapy in Fluer-t. White-ish silver.
THIS WEEK’S SAVES
My brother went to a wedding in the south of France last weekend, and the bride wore this amazing high-neck dress to the welcome party. I made him send me a pic and immediately reverse image searched it. It’s Khaite. So good.
A dream dress and cake and field of lavender Should kids have an allowance? I love parenting content like this.
Ref x Patagonia. Great collab. Especially these shorts.
If you need sunscreen, I wrote a story about the best-smelling ones (a Hawaiian Tropics girl, myself).
This Barefoot Contessa Drinking Game is so funny.
Okay, gotta run.
Have a great weekend!
Love,
Megan
